Moroccan zellige is a type of mosaic, primarily from the Fez region of Morocco, used to decorate walls and occasionally floors. The distinctive feature of zellige is that it's made up of pieces of colored, glazed terracotta that are cut and trimmed by hand, then assembled one by one on a bed of mortar to form a geometric assembly of colors.
